"This is a mixed surface route. The first 20 or so miles are on pavement as you proceed by Fernan Lake and up and over Fernan Saddle . Follow Windy Ridge up and over, remember to fill up water bottles at the spring, and then descend to the CDA river via Lost Mines Road. After crossing the river, stay right on FSR 209 and take this all the way until it intersects with the black top after Bumblebee Campground. Turn right, which is south, and proceed to the Snake Pit. Fill up on water again or maybe a little further down the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. Join the trail at the Snake Pit and follow all the way to the Bull Run junction. Cross over the river and pickup Highway 3 maintaining southerly direction. Follow Highway 3 to Killarney Lake Road. Turn right onto Killarney Lake Road. Follow KLR until it turns into Beauty Bay Road or FSR 438. Proceed up and over Mt. Coeur d'Alene and then down into Beauty Bay Campground. Right turn onto HWY 97 and proceed to Yellowstone Trail. Proceed to the campground on Yellowstone Trail, which is a right turn, for water. Retrace steps and follow Yellowstone Trail to CDA Lakefront Drive or go up Sunnyside for a little more climbing. This route takes you up Sunnyside which hits 11% for a short stretch. Once in CDA, grab a cup of coffee at Parkside and enjoy the view of the lake. "

"This is a big loop. Water at Honeysuckle Campground and again at Beauty Creek Campground. Also, there is a fresh water spring on Windy Ridge. When riding up windy ridge, look for a white sign located next to a ninety degree right turn. The spring is a pipe coming out the hillside. This is great water! The climb up Blue Creek to Fernan Saddle can be removed. Trust me, after 80+ miles, Meyers Hill Road laughs heartily at you as you grind through a mile of 10-14% gradient. And, you still get to climb Blue Creek to Fernan after this effort!"

Coeur d'Alene/4th of July Pass/Beauty Creek/Coeur d'Alene

"You will notice I was challenged with my route finding today and messed up two turns. Don't do the out and back portion on 614 where I should have turned on 439. Also, don't take the right turn off of 459 like I did. Just stay on the blacktop all the way to Highway 97. HWY 97 has little to no shoulder and is a busy road. Most of the drivers were great. But, beware! It was a hot when did this ride. Water is available at Wolfe Lodge Campground and then at the Beauty Creek Campground at the bottom of the long blacktop descent. It's hand pump water station. You can also loop back to the Wolfe Lodge once you cross I-90 and refill there as well. Road 439 alone is worth the effort on this ride. Huge views and good dirt on the road. Overall, there is more pavement on this route than I generally include, however, the dirt and gravel portions on the ride are the real deal. Have fun! "

"1. Water can be an issue on this ride if it is hot. 2. Route finding is pretty simple. 3. The climb up FSR 202 (Burn Cabin) can be rather chunky. The descent is fast. 4. You may hear gunshots coming from the gun club when you reach the bottom of the Burnt Cabin descent. "

"1. This is a no kidder of a ride. Trail 2320 is suitable for a full suspension mountain bike. If you are skittish on big rocks, rather steep descents and riding trails on a gravel bike, then I recommend FSR 259 instead of the trail. 2. There is water at Huckleberry Campground located on Lost Mines Road just across from FSR 202 and prior to starting a good climb. It is an established campground. If you can't find the campground, don't go any further because you will probably get lost. 3. FSR 202 incline was 15% at one point. Prolonged pitches in excess of 10%. 4. Wonderful descent almost all of the way to Wolfe Lodge Campground after reaching Alder Creek Road. 5. There is water at Wolfe Lodge Campground depending on the time of year. 6. This is backcountry Forest Service Road and trail riding between FSR 202 and Alder Creek Road. 7. Be self sufficient out here. If not, be prepared to walk a pretty long way before reaching an area with cell reception. 8. Abundant wildlife. Mountain lion was sighted on Blue Creek Road during this ride. 9. Other trail users such as SUVs, ATVs, motorcycles and horses. Keep your head up and pay attention. 10. Great ride! Have fun! "
